1959 Rolex Submariner Big Crown Ref.6538 the original "Bond Submariner" Tropical Dial. Although several other Submariner versions, such as the refs. 5508 and 6205, received the same nickname, the ref 6538 is the original Submariner which was used in several James Bond / 007 movies. This watch was only produced between 1955 and 1959. One of the most important and recognizable features of the Submariner 6538 is the oversized crown (8 mm) and the lack of crown guards. Powered by the self-winding Caliber 1030 nickel lever movement with 25 jewels. Original well preserved dial, 200 meters. 660 ft. originally black, turned in a beautiful brown tropical colour, features luminous hour markers, as well as luminous Mercedes hands and central seconds hand. Fitted with a black rotating bezel, calibrated to 60 units. Unpolished tonneau-shaped case measures 38 mm. The watch is in overall well preserved and original condition and in order working function.
